Getting Started

Yup, I've finally come to the conclusion I need to make some changes. This is how I looked at the end of our mission in Africa. Not sure how much I weighed then. I came home at 260 lbs. Yesterday I weighed in at 252. I am taking Lisinipril for high blood pressure 140/90 and Simvastatin for high cholesterol. I have been experiencing severe heart pain and took a stress test two weeks ago. It came out normal and am scheduled for a more intensive one tomorrow. However, the worst is a significant lack of energy. So, as I have learned as a bishop, people make changes better when they hold themselves accountable and that is what I am doing here. I am committed to losing at least 30 pounds and improve my health with better eating. Attached below is a list of good and bad foods I have researched. Hope they might do others some good. I am also going to keep a daily progress record.

12 January 2014 -247.4 lbs.
Well, I sure have hit a plateau. No doubt my inactivity has a significant impact or lack there of on my weight loss. The surgeon asked that I not do any exercising for a week, so maybe I'll start tomorrow. During the day I had an avocado, a sweet potato, two slices of bread(bad boy), and some walnuts. Doesn't sound bad. I do need to increase my water consumption.
