Getting Started


Yup, I've finally come to the conclusion I need to make some changes. This is how I looked at the end of our mission in Africa. Not sure how much I weighed then. I came home at 260 lbs. Yesterday I weighed in at 252. I am taking Lisinipril for high blood pressure 140/90 and Simvastatin for high cholesterol. I have been experiencing severe heart pain and took a stress test two weeks ago. It came out normal and am scheduled for a more intensive one tomorrow. However, the worst is a significant lack of energy. So, as I have learned as a bishop, people make changes better when they hold themselves accountable and that is what I am doing here. I am committed to losing at least 30 pounds and improve my health with better eating. Attached below is a list of good and bad foods I have researched. Hope they might do others some good. I am also going to keep a daily progress record.

28 February 2014 - 242.6 lbs.
Worked out twice on the elliptical yesterday. Ate way too much. Had granola for breakfast, grilled cheese sandwich for lunch and three sourdough pizzas for dinner.

Much better. Eggs for breakfast. Salad for lunch. Had interviews last night so skipped dinner. Had a great work out on the elliptical.

Getting really hard to understand. I only had some sausage for breakfast at Bekah's birthday party and taco soup last night but gained a pound. I WILL NOT GIVE UP.

NO! NO!NO! How can this be? I ate so little yesterday. Worked out on the elliptical and was pretty active. Only saving thought is that I did drink a lot of water. If this is so, I would expect to be down tomorrow.

Can't remember breakfast or lunch. Had four chicken thighs and rice for dinner.

No breakfast or lunch but had a lot(many) tostadas at Kates. Really good food.

Started exercising on the elliptical again today. Had eggs for breakfast. Had fish for both lunch and dinner. I think I had some figs for lunch.

240 by the end of the week?????Had "Instant Breakfast" and figs for breakfast. Large chicken salad for dinner. With the exception of getting over this cold I'm feeling pretty good.

Again, I would have expected to have lost more as I ate so little yesterday. Had scrambled eggs for breakfast, figs and grapes for lunch and a veggie burger for dinner. Also had popcorn later.

Starting to feel better today. I hope I can, again, begin exercising tomorrow. Eggs for breakfast.Lots of salad and peanuts for dinner.

Can't make sense of the gain. Will deal with it though. All remember eating is figs, jello, soup, taco soup. Have been sick for about 10 days and not at all active.

How can this be? HOW CAN THIS BE? Well I didn't do anything yesterday. I was sick so barely moved from the couch. Had granola for lunch and a cup of soup for dinner.

Looks like I missed a couple of days. Yesterday was fast Sunday so only ate at night. I had two(small) enchiladas that Kate made and a salad.Today I had baked eggs for breakfast, granola(home made) for lunch and two cups of enchilada soup for dinner.
